TIPs:
- Nipple Removal : The best way to remove a frozen nipple is
to apply oil and heat till it is too hot to touch. Sometime you may have to make
it than that. Then you would palce a 1/4 inch drive socket on it. Use the
square end on the nipple and place the proper size allan wrench in the socket portion.
Be sure the socket fits on the nipple. Try not to use too much force as
you may strip the off the nipple. If it still won't come loose soak with penetrating
oil while hot and let cool. The Start over again.
- When buying a weapon be sure to check the rear sight leaves to see if it has any wobble. It should have very little...if any.
- If you've bought a Euroarms Enfield or Colt or a with a custom front sight added:
Using a small flashlight, look inside the bore, under the front sight. Check for a very slight wrinkle or raised area. This wrinkle is caused by using too much heat when installing the sight. These wrinkles or raised areas ruin the accuracy of the firearm.
- Here's another problem I've seen on Zoli Zouaves, Repro Colts and Euroarms Enfields:
Remove the breech plug and check the distance between the face of the plug and the back of the barrel. Ideally, they should touch. More than 1/32" could mean trouble. It will leave a that will build up residue and possibly cause a cook off.
